I don't know why I was surprised
After all, it is merely standard practice these days. But I was.
As we stepped out the front door this afternoon, on our way to meet with the insurance adjuster about the fender bender I mentioned earlier, my cell phone went off. It was some chiropractor that I had never heard of, wanting to know if I was suffering any pains, or dizziness, or any other problems from my recent accident and urging me to "keep my options open". She also requested that I keep them in mind if I had any trouble in the future.
I knew the ambulance chasers would be after me. I expected that. It's traditional, especially in cases where someone is rear-ended. But I didn't anticipate that people in the medical community, even on the fringes of the medical community, would be racing along in hot pursuit of the ambulances too.
I feel so innocently naive.

Dude,
Glad you're OK. There was a big expose' recently in the media here about doctor ambulance chasers. You got to feed that Mercedes one way or another.

Yeah, I know. But do they have to feed it on my blood and pain? Not that I was bleeding or in pain, but you get what I mean.

Don't feel alone in the naivete department. I always assumed the insurance adjusters etc... were tainted but I never considered that doctors, etc... were part of the whole ripoff system either. In this economy I guess we shouldn't be surprised that the sharks are circling. Glad you're okay and try not to let them make you crazy while you deal with the paper pushers trying to get your car fixed.

Oddly, the adjuster was the sanest person I have dealt with so far. He just cut a check and went away. Strange.
